How do you imagine your coming year? What if you explored the potential life theme?
I am always amazed at the twist and turns life makes throughout the year, some predictable, others unexpected. No matter whether predictable or not, my life works. Many unexpected gifts occur along the way! When there is a situation that appears challenging, I often take time to let it unfold, unless an immediate action is necessary.
As my ritual for each year, I like to take time to unearth information regarding the coming year. Perhaps I am like the forecasters for financial markets for activating the world of insights. What fascinates me is how the themes that come forward within me have relevance and purpose in my acknowledgments throughout the year.
Last January I pondered two themes for the year, freedom and movement. When events occurred during the year, I reflected on these themes as a way to explore what had occurred. More often than not, I found that last year’s themes were inner-related to the situations at hand. I am truly amazed at how much movement occurred over the past year. I have made major changes in my life as I was freed from the chains that had bound me all my life. Opportunities came forward and my life has changed geographically and introspectively. What were once obligations shifted to freedom.
A decision in March to relocate 1150 miles away was further supported with the loss of a sibling (who had a challenging life) and a widowed parent who decided to make a move to independent living. Both of these situations lightened my load significantly and eliminated any possible feeling of guilt. This does not mean there haven’t been life details to attend to; it means each of these situations relieved the feeling of obligation that had hung over my head from childhood.
Receiving the insights of freedom and movement last January created a sense of verification and alignment with what occurred all year long. Looking back on last year, it may have been a landmark year for movement but it was truly a year of monumental freedom! I feel the difference everyday as my life is full of joy and laughter. Sometimes the major changes free us by showing each of us what is truly important in life.
Knowing these life themes for the year helped me to orient more easily to change and to adjust my attitude as I remembered the themes for the year. Sharing the theme has little relevance to others as this is an internal compass to be used for our own acknowledgment of how we interpret and navigate through life.
Why not take the opportunity to research your theme for this coming year? Is it possible you will have a different outlook as the year progresses? Is it probable that you will have more trust and confidence in the way you live your life? Treat this as an experiment where your insight guides you.
See how the year and your interpretation of life align!
